Visa and Entry Requirements

Before you embark on your journey, please ensure that you meet Kenya’s entry requirements. Most visitors require an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), with exemptions for select countries. No visas are issued on arrival, so all delegates must secure their eTA before departure.

You can check your eligibility and submit your application via the official Kenya eTA portal HERE. No visa is issued on arrival. Kenyan entry visas are now exclusively issued electronically, with visitors required to obtain their eTA before departure – please apply on the eTA official website HERE.

For delegates who require a visa invitation letter, AVPA offers a streamlined process. Simply complete our VISA Letter Request Form, and our team will promptly send your personalised letter via email to support your application.

Event Location

The 2025 AVPA Conference will take place at Trademark Hotel, Village Market, Gigiri, Nairobi, Kenya - a prime location 26 km from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, 20 km from Wilson Airport, and near the US Embassy and UN Headquarters.

Onsite Health & Safety

Your well-being is a top priority. The Village Medical Centre, operated by MP Shah Hospital, is located within the Village Market complex and is open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (more details here). The facility is staffed by qualified medical professionals, with ambulance services on standby.

Throughout the event, AVPA will implement robust health and safety measures, including enhanced sanitation, ventilation, and emergency preparedness. Should any health concerns arise, our on-site medical team will coordinate promptly with hotel safety personnel and excursion leaders.

Dress Code and Weather

Main conference sessions will be held indoors, where business casual attire is recommended. Outdoor “Impact-in-Action” sessions call for comfortable walking shoes and breathable fabrics. For the Impact Disco, come prepared to showcase your style with AfroChic flair.

Nairobi in November enjoys pleasant temperatures between 15°C and 25°C, with occasional light showers. A light jacket or raincoat is advised.

Practical Nairobi Tips

• Connectivity: Local SIM cards from providers such as Safaricom and Airtel are widely available at the airport and shopping centres. Safaricom generally offers the strongest coverage in Nairobi. Most hotels and cafes offer free Wi-Fi.
• Payments & Currency:The currency is the Kenyan Shilling (KES). ATMs, banks, and currency exchange services are readily available in Village Market. Major credit cards are widely accepted. Mobile payment via M-Pesa is extremely common in Kenya and can be set up for international visitors through local SIM registration.
• Safety: Nairobi is generally safe in well-trafficked areas, especially in the Village Market and hotel zone. As in any major city, keep valuables secure, avoid isolated areas at night, and use registered taxis or ride-hailing apps.
• Culture & Etiquette: Kenyans value warmth and courtesy; a handshake and smile go a long way. Dress modestly when outside of business events and always ask before photographing people.
• Leisure: Extend your stay to explore Kenya’s incredible natural beauty. Options include day trips to Nairobi National Park, excursions to the Great Rift Valley, or multi-day safaris to the Maasai Mara, Amboseli, or coastal destinations like Diani Beach. Reach out to our partner Absolute.
